Eurozone inflation hits 20-month high
Higher fuel costs helped push inflation up
Inflation in the eurozone hit a 20-month high last month, European Union data has shown.
Annual inflation in the 16-nation bloc rose to 1.7% in July, up from 1.4% in June and the highest rate since November 2008, Eurostat said.
A JPMorgan Chase (JPM) study of a Walmart Supercenter in Virginia found that the world’s largest retailer has raised prices by nearly 6% on average over the past six weeks, according to the New York Post. Reuters says it was the biggest sequential increase since JPMorgan started the study in January 2009.
Some of the price hikes were considerably larger ( over 60% ). A spokesperson for the Bentonville, Ark., company could not immediately be reached for comment.”
